England are out but the Euro 2016 excitement continues at Bredon Cricket Club, where we’re all Welsh now!

Wales face Portugal on Wednesday, July 6, for a place in the final, and we’ll be showing the match at our Hill Close clubhouse.

Football fans will be keen to see how the teams’ two superstars, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, compare, and if Wales can turn in another giant-killing performance. They beat highly rated Belgium to earn a place in this semi-final.

This time, though, Chris Coleman’s men will be without Aaron Ramsey and Ben Davies, who picked up bookings in their last game.

Kick-off is at 8pm, and our bar will be open (check out our competitive prices below). See you there!

Club’s fund-raising race night is a winner

Here’s just a brief taste of last night’s race night at the club (here’s what it was all about).

It was great fun, and raised vital funds for the club.

Thanks to Johnny McGrath for organising it.

Next big social night is our Eighties and Nineties School Disco on Saturday, July 23. Find our more here.

Tense finish as Under 12s see off Shipston

junior cricket batsman
Heading for victory: Bredon Under 12s beat Shipston by just one run

Bredon Under 12s carried out an average bowling/fielding display today, Shipston hitting 282 for eight.

On the return, Bredon chased the runs down confidently, leading to a tense and stressful final overs.

The last pair needed 10 to win off three overs.

But Shipston, keeping their two best bowlers until the end, meant business.

They took a wicket which left Bredon with the last over on 283 and in the lead by just one run.

Isaac Tagg played out a great over of classic forward defensive to win the match.

The boys learnt a lot today and fought to the death. A great all-round performance. Well done!

The Under 13s also won against Astwood Bank, which means an all-Bredon semi final.

Good luck, guys!

You’re under starters orders, tomorrow is race night!

And they’re off! Bredon Cricket Club is re-creating the excitement of race-going on Saturday, July 2. Picture: Worcester News

Just a reminder that there is a great night in store at Bredon Cricket Club tomorrow (Saturday, July 2).

We are hosting an exciting evening of racing at our Hill Close clubhouse.

You will be able to stake money on the outcome of recorded races played on a large TV screen. The selection is purely dependent on chance. There are no odds or form to complicate your selection.

The evening’s organiser is a firm that specialises in this sort of event. It brings along all the equipment needed, including eight recorded races, betting slips as well as an experienced master of ceremonies.

There is a proper commentary with each race, and numbers appear on screen to show the audience the position of their horse as the race progresses.

Our bar will, of course, be open throughout.

It all makes for an evening that re-creates the thrilling atmosphere of a visit to the racecourse, and will be a valuable boost to the club’s coffers.

Admission is free, non-members are welcome, and the fun gets under way at 7.30pm.
