Sign up for our charity golf day

Bredon Cricket Club charity golf day is at Naunton Downs Golf Club, near Cheltenham, on Friday, July 26.

Entry is £30 a head for teams of three.

The price includes a coffee and bacon roll on arrival, 18 holes of golf, and food and prizes back at the cricket club.

This year we are raising funds for the James Hopkins Trust, a very worthy charity, so please do your best to support the event by playing or sponsoring one of the holes at £100.

Please confirm by Saturday, June 1, to Neil Hall, chairman.

Reigning champs defend their tower run titles

Familiar faces again wrote their names in the Bredon Cricket Club Tower Run winners’ roll of honour.

Laura Spence was for the third year in a row the first female member of Bredon Cricket Club across the finishing line today, while Simon ‘Harvey’ Booth claimed the same record for the men.

The overall winner was Jason Tilley, of Gloucester Athletics Club, who completed the run in a blistering 43min 50sec.

First woman across the line was Petra Vymetalova with a time of 47min 44sec.

A field of 104 set off in ideal conditions for the challenging 10k run that took in the 299m summit of Bredon Hill.

It was overcast, with temperatures of about 16C-17C, a gentle breeze and one or two light rain showers.

Cricket club chairman Neil Hall said the 2019 event has been a great success, and thanked the organisers and everyone who had taken part.

Proceeds from the run are shared between the cricket club and the Midlands Air Ambulance.

Barbecues, live music, tower run, comedy night and Bredon Hill Bash games: it’s a busy two months ahead at Bredon Cricket Club

A few dates for your diary:

Our eight-week All Stars Cricket programme begins on Friday, May 17, at 5.30pm.

Bredon Cricket Club Tower Run is on Sunday, May 26. Register now for this annual event: it’s great fun! Later the same day Bredon will pay another game in the Bredon Hill Bash, the Twenty20 tournament just for the village teams around Bredon Hill. There will be live music and a barbecue. The clubhouse bar will be open throughout the day.

A date for a comedy night originally planned for Saturday, June 1, is being re-arranged.

On Friday, June 14, Bredon Cricket Club will play a game at Hill Close against Gloucester Gipsies Cricket Club. The action starts at 11 o’clock.  There will be a barbecue and entertainment after the match.

Call into the club on Sunday, June 30,  to welcome riders taking part in the St Richard’s Hospice Bikeathon, some of whom will be stopping for refreshments at our clubhouse during their fund-raising journey through the Cotswolds.
