There is some good press coverage on the sports pages of our prize night, including pictures of Jordan Huggins, our young player of the year, and Martin Hill, who won prizes for best batting, bowling and performance of the year.
The club’s annual dinner was not just about enjoying a drink, curry and music with friends, it was a chance to salute those who have had an outstanding season with the club, for a variety of reasons.
It was a terrific evening in our clubhouse on Saturday night (September 24), and we were entertained by a fantastic performance from local duo Bang Bang Billie.
Chairman Neil Hall paid tribute to all those who had contributed to the club’s development over the last year, particularly the thriving junior section.
He said plans were in place to push on next year to continue the development of cricket in Bredon.
A number of awards were presented (see pictures below):
First team batting: Martin Hill
First team bowling: Martin Hill
Second team batting: Ian Fenney, runner up Rachel Fenney
Second team bowling: Simon Booth, runner up Liam Harris
Third team batting: Martin Hopkins, runner up Henry Portch
Third team bowling: Olly Washbourne, runner up Henry Portch
Top local act Bang Bang Billie has been confirmed as the musical entertainment for Bredon Cricket Club’s annual dinner.
The Broadway-based duo, comprising Billie Brewer on vocals and Chris O’Donoghue on guitar, describe themselves as “an acoustic cacophony that packs a punch!”.
They come highly recommended and are sure to help make the dinner, which is being held at our Hill Close clubhouse at 7.30pm on Saturday, September 24, a lively affair.
The format will be more informal than previous years. The award-winning Rajshahi Indian restaurant in Tewkesbury is laying on a mouthwatering buffet curry.
Our bar, which has been offering a range of super-value drinks promotions all summer, will be open until late.
In addition to the music there will be the usual speeches and presentation of awards.
It will be a chance to chat with friends, look back on another memorable season, and dream of possible glories next year.
All this at the most picturesque venue in Bredon!
Senior members and guests are invited, along with all junior players who have appeared for the club’s Third XI (though they must attend with a parent/carer).
Tickets cost £15 (£10 for juniors) and are on sale from the bar or from treasurer Glenn Buckley on 07920 094688. Please let Glenn know by Friday, September 16, if you will be attending.
