Like father, like son!
There was no intention of revenge when Bob Portch, playing for Bredon Veterans, was caught by his son Henry.
Nevertheless, when it came it must have been sweet.
Bob, who had been battling at nine for the Veterans, said (only slightly begrudgingly): “He caught what was probably the bet shot I’d hit for six years!”
But he didn’t have long to wait before turning the tables.
When it was Henry’s turn to go in to bat, opening as a guest player for the Fossils, guess who caught him? His dad!
Henry, who at 17 years old substantially lowered the average age of the Worcester-based Fossils, had been roped in to play because the side were short of players for their friendly against Bredon Veterans.
One thing’s for sure. Neither he or his dad could be accused of going easy on the opposition!
