A sting in the Third XI’s tail was not enough to secure a win against Ombersley Taverners today.
The Thirds, playing through showers at their home ground at Birlingham, posted 163 at the end of their innings.
There was a standout performance from Johnny McGrath, who batting at number nine, unsettled the Taverners by hitting 56 before being caught out on the last ball of the innings.
Ruben Ibbotson also enjoyed a fine spell of bowling, claiming four wickets.
Oliver Washbourne, who bowled eight good overs, also impressed.
Bredon contained several young players (the opposition were all adults), who would have been inspired by the guidance and very vocal encouragement from senior players, in particular, skipper Russell Collins.
